Bo Groulx has made an immediate impact since his call-up from the AHL, notching five points in six games. And the 26-year-old from Gatineau, Quebec, isn’t shy about what’s driving his game right now: confidence.

“I’m approaching it pretty well, I think—with a lot of confidence,” Groulx said. “I know what I can do at this level, and I think I’m showing it.” That sense of self-assurance isn’t just talk. Groulx says it allows him to play free, read the ice, and make plays without overthinking. “If you come in hesitant, you make mistakes you normally wouldn’t. Right now, I’m playing free, playing with good players, making plays, skating into open areas, and creating opportunities for myself.”

Part of Groulx’s confidence comes from his recent success.

Part of that confidence comes from seeing results on the scoreboard. Groulx has already registered a couple of goals and assists, and he knows those moments reinforce the way he’s approaching the game. “I get rewarded for doing the good things, and that builds a lot of confidence in my game at the NHL level,” he said.

Coaches and teammates are noticing it too. “He seems to have a real good sense of where to be, not overcomplicating things, just taking the play and running with it,” said one Leafs staffer. “He’s got good legs, a good release, can shoot the puck, and he’s playing with pace. It’s been great for us—he’s been awesome.”

Groulx is looking forward to playing in front of his friends and family tonight in Ottawa.

Groulx also gets a personal boost from the upcoming game in Ottawa. With about 20 family and friends planning to attend, it’s a special matchup for him. “It means a lot. I played there when I was 23 with Anaheim, and it wasn’t a great game for me back then, but hopefully tomorrow will be different.”

For a young player like Groulx, these moments are about more than points. They’re about staking a claim for a bigger role next season, building trust, and showing the Leafs what he can do when he’s confident and playing his game. If he keeps this up, it’s getting harder to picture him heading back to the AHL anytime soon.
